Top 10 Highest-Paid NBA Players Of The 2020-21 Season

There were lucky NBA players who earned so colossal money in the NBA. There were also lucky NBA players who earned so much money but didn’t live up to the expectations because they were barred by injuries.

Today, we will rank the top 10 highest-paid NBA players this season. We based this ranking on the records of the official website of ESPN.

Let’s get started.

Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) – $40,231,758

Stephen Curry is currently the highest-paid NBA player this season with a $40,231,154 salary despite playing just only 5 games. He was the first player to have a $200M+ contract. He had signed a 5-year/$201,158,790 contract extension with the Warriors in 2017.

The “Babyface Assassin” is a two-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) and also won 3 championships in 2015, 2017, and 2018. He also reached the NBA Finals for five consecutive years from 2015 to 2019. His streak has come to an end this year after the Warriors failed to reach the postseason.

This will be another story next year when the splash brothers come back to the lineup.

Β Chris Paul (Phoenix Suns) – $38,506,482

Chris Paul is now in the 2nd year of the massive 4-year/$159,730,592 contract he signed last year with the Houston Rockets. He was traded to the Phoneix Suns along with some valuable assets and draft picks. His salary for this year is $38,506,482.

The “Point God” has declined since his departure from the Los Angeles Clippers. The Houston Rockets, where he played for two years, really got a chance to trade him when the OKC dismantled their roster.

This year, he proves to everyone that he’s not yet washed as he was named an all-star reserve for Team LeBron in the 2020 NBA All-Star Game.

Russell Westbrook (Washington Wizards) – $38,506,482

Russell Westbrook is ballin’ right now in his first year as a Wizard. He will be earning $38,506,482 this year. He’s currently in the 2nd year of his 5-year/$206,794,070 contract that he signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2017 before he was traded to the Washington Wizards.

He has once held the highest-paid contract in NBA history in terms of guaranteed money. However, when he was traded to the Houston Rockets last year, he modified the terms of his contract to prevent the Houston Rockets from reaching the salary cap.

John Wall (Houston Rockets) – $38,199,000

John Wall is still not playing for almost 2 years now after he sustained an Achilles injury. Despite not playing for a long time, he is bound to earn 38,199,000 this year. He signed a guaranteed four-year/$171,131,520 contract extension last summer of 2017.

Wall is not yet seen playing since he got injured. The Wizards are still hoping that he can play for them before his contract expires. He has only 2 years left to prove that he’s worth the max.

Kevin Durant (Brooklyn Nets) – $38,199,000

Kevin Durant had not yet seen the floor to play for his new team, the Brooklyn Nets. He tore his Achilles tendon in the NBA Finals last season with the Warriors that’s why he’s yet to make his Nets debut.

KD is guaranteed to earn an enormous $38,199,000 this year. He signed a 4 year/$164,255,700 contract with the Golden State Warriors and was traded to the Nets immediately in exchange for D’Angelo Russell to complete the sign and trade.

For sure, he will come back next year and they are expected to contend for a championship, along with Kyrie Irving and Deandre Jordan.

James Harden (Brooklyn Nets) – $38,199,000

James Harden signed a 4 year/$171,131,520 contract extension with the Houston Rockets in 2017. His contract surpassed Stephen Curry as the richest in NBA history. He will earn $38,199,199 this season.

“The Beard” is currently the leading scorer in the NBA this season averaging 34.4 points per game in 44.4% FG shooting.

It is surprising that he meshes well with Russell Westbrook even though they are both ball-handlers. Since he’s already playing with Russ, nothing less than a championship in the next five years will do for the Rockets.

LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers) – $37,436,858

LeBron James is already at year 17 of his legendary NBA career, yet he’s still one of the best NBA players today. He’s still an MVP candidate this year joining reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo at the top.

“The King” is destined to earn $37,436,858 this year. He signed a 4 year/$153,312,846 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018.

Last year, LeBron missed the playoffs for the first time since 2005. Now that they have Anthony Davis and a caliber of players around them, many fans are expecting them to reach the NBA Finals and win the championship.

Kyle Lowry (Toronto Raptors) – $34,996,296

Kyle Lowry is in the final year of his three-year/$100,000,000 contract he signed in 2017 with the Toronto Raptors. He’ll earn $34,996,296 this year as the Raptors are still in contention despite the exit of Kawhi Leonard.

Β “Klow” signed a 1-year/$34,000,000 contract extension to keep him as a Raptor until 2020-21.

He won his first NBA championship last season with the help of Kawhi Leonard. This season, he was named as an All-Star reserve for team Giannis at the 2020 NBA All-Star game in Chicago.

Blake Griffin (Brooklyn Nets) – $34,449,964

Griffin is in the midst of a five-year/$171 million contract that he signed in 2017 with the Clippers. The deal is fully guaranteed and runs through 2021-22.

He is assured to earn $34,449,964 this year. After his contract expires maybe he can’t get another contract like this as he is at the dawn of his career.

In 2018, Griffin, along with Willie Reed and Brice Johnson, was traded to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanović, a future protected first-round draft pick, and a future second-round draft pick.

Tobias Harris (Philadelphia 76ers) – $32,742,000

Tobias Harris had signed a new 5-year/$180,000,000 contract with the Philadelphia 76ers last summer. This year, he will earn $32,742,000. He’ll be having an annual salary of $36,000,000.

In 2019, the Sixers got him in trade by giving up Wilson Chandler, Mike Muscala, Landry Shamet, and a number of future draft picks. They reached the Eastern Conference Semifinals that year but were shut down by Kawhi Leonard’s blazing buzzer-beater in game 7.

After being traded last season from the Clippers to Philly his scoring average went down from 20.9 PTS to 18.2 PTS. Playing with Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Jimmy Butler, and the locker drama that is occurring at that time really affects his output.Β
