Jason Terry Believes Luka and Porziņģis Could be an All-time Dynamic Duo
Mavericks legend Jason “The Jet” Terry believes that Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis could be a legitimate all-time dynamic duo of the NBA in the future.
Terry stated that these two Mavs stars are still young and they still have plenty of time to learn so much and know the strengths and weaknesses of one another. He believes that their best asset is their youth.
In an interview on Dennis and Cowlishaw show on ESPN Dallas 103.3 [KESN-FM], Terry stated:
“They’re still headed down as one of the all-time dynamic duos in the history of the game, if they continue to win and then have success in the playoffs, and hopefully take us to another NBA finals and win a championship. Because they’re so young. When you have two young stars as KP and Luka, and the talent that they possess, they have yet to really reach their full potential and I think the chemistry that they’ve gained this season by playing together is going to continue to grow,” as transcribed by The Dallas Morning News.
Terry also believes that the two will learn more in the process and will grow so much playing together.
“KP is learning that ‘hey maybe it might not be at the four positions, maybe at the five positions where I can be most dangerous and effective.’ Luka is also understanding ‘hey I might not have to take over an entire ball game, I can kind of conserve my energy and be the closer very similar to what Dirk [Nowitzki] was, and kind of let KP get off early in games.
“The Jet” won a championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, along with Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, JJ Barea, and many more popular role players. They beat the fan-favorite Miami Heat in just 6 games with a 4-2 series record. Nowitzki was later on named as the Finals MVP.
Terry is currently 7th in the NBA All-Time 3 Pointers Made list.
The Mavericks were 5th in the Western Conference. The Mavs had faced the 4th spot in the standings and that is Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers and lost in 7 games.
The duo of “Wonderboy” and “The Unicorn” is really in a good position right now. They are bound to play even better for years to come. Maybe soon, we can see another banner raised into the rafters of American Airlines Arena.
